Dax's Daily Dose of Tarot & Numerology!
Today's Card of The Day (COTD) is The Seven of Cups! ....This Card brings with it the 7-Vibration, from the 1 - 5 - 7 Mind Numbers sub-group in Numerology. Cups represent the Water Element in Tarot, and is about Feelings and Emotions.
Seven is a Number of Seeking. Those born with the Life Path 7 are natural detectives. Seven is often a perfectionist, and is highly analytical and inquisitive. Seven can be private, reclusive, introspective, and distant.
Seven is draw to the worlds of secrecy, intrigue, hidden mysteries... and also Spirituality, Metaphysics, and DIvination. Seven has a need to know the answers, and how The Universe really works.
Likewise, the Seven of Cups is a Card of introspection, the inner world, dreams, the hidden, fantasy and illusion. It's a Card of choices and imagination, and sometimes confusion or unrealistic expections.
In the Waite/Smith version of the Card (shown here from the Radiant Deck), a dark silhouetted individual looks over seven cups, each containing a Gift.
What if you could Pick Only One? ....Which would you choose? A difficult decision, which the figure in the Card seems to be struggling with.
The Cups are shown in the air, on a cloud. This means they are "in consciousness" and not yet manifested in the physical world. There is much debate among Tarotologists as to what these objects actually mean. Arthur Waite never gave a definitive answer, rather just describing the Card as "strange chalices of vision".
As with all things in Tarot, I believe it's in the eye of the beholder! I invite you to decide what they mean for yourself! ...but to help folks along, here's what I see:
I see the lower row of four cups as the base needs and desires (Gifts from the Physical Realm). The Castle represents Safety & Security, while the Treasure of Jewels is Wealth & Comfort. The Laurel Wreath is Success & Victory, and the Dragon is Power, and even Vitality & Health....
Notice illustrator Pamela "Pixie" Smith has cleaverly placed a "skull" on the cup containing the Laurel Wreath. It's nearly hidden and often missed. A warning of the danger of this slipping into Pride & Vanity (one of the seven deadly sins)?
This is the card of illusions, so what seems like a "Gift" is sometimes a curse in disguise! Chooses wisely!
The upper row of three cups are the "higher" Gifts of Consciousness (from non-physical realm). The Serpent is often associated with Wisdom. The Human Head, with his/her eyes closed, is the Powers of The Mind.
Intellect, Analytical Thinking, Sensory Abilities - to include the Psychic Senses, as well. But remember, I asked "What if you could only pick ONE?"
Any of the Gifts on the bottom row are quite wonderful on their own, but do not necessarily lead to acquiring any of the others! Each also has a darker-side, which Pamela was warning us about.
The Gifts of Consiousness, however, can actually lead to acquiring Safety, Security, Comfort, Wealth, Sucess, Power, Health, etc.... But not each other!
The Powers of the Mind do not necessarily lead to Wisdom! ....Nor does Wisdom necessarily lead to Mental Abilities. But what if you could have it all? ....In ONE choice! That's were the last cup comes in!
....A shrouded figure, all in white (purity), with a bright red (passion) aura of power surrounding them. This is REAL Power, and the all-encompassing Gift. Knowing one's True Self!
The figure is shrouded because the individual in the Card has not yet realized this, and is disconnected from their real source of power.
Remembering your True Self, who is a Divine Being, straddling between the Spiritual and Physical Realms, is the Best Choice....
The Real You, as a Divine Being, has the ability to Manifest anything and everything they desire!
So, as you go through your day today, tap into the 3-Viberation of the DATE, Communication & Creativity, especially in how you interact with others (2-Energy of the DAY, Relationships & Cooperation), and think about how your Choices effect others......
